WHY IT MATTERS
Why Proper Disposal Matters
HHW differs from ordinary trash. Careful handling and appropriate disposal help reduce risks to people, wildlife, and the environment.

01
Protect soil and water
Keeping HHW out of trash and drains helps reduce contamination risks.
02
Prevent unsafe exposure
Sealed, labeled containers reduce the chance of accidental contact or reactions.
03
Reduce risks inside homes
Organized removal keeps unwanted hazardous materials from accumulating.
04
Support cleaner communities
Local collection programs make responsible disposal easier to follow.
