GENERAL HHW PICKUP GUIDELINES
Follow these guidelines when preparing your household hazardous waste (HHW) items for collection.
Pickup details for your city will be provided when scheduling.
Before Your Pickup

PREPARE YOUR HHW ITEMS
Do Not Mix Chemicals
Keep Materials in Their Original Containers
Keep materials in their original containers whenever possible. Make sure all items are clearly labeled. Unlabeled or unidentified items will not be collected.
Secure Spill-Proof Lids
Make sure all containers have tightly secured, spill-proof lids.
Do not place HHW in glass containers. Individual HHW items, bags, and boxes must weigh 50 pounds or less.

SPECIAL PREPARATION
Leaking or Damaged Containers
Leaking or damaged containers must be safely repackaged before collection.
Depending on the material, transfer the contents to a compatible container with a secure lid or place the original container inside a suitable secondary container.
Do not transfer contents into milk jugs, glass containers, or food-storage containers.
Flammable Liquids
Flammable liquids must be in containers approved for transporting flammable liquids.
Small Batteries and Light Bulbs
Place small household batteries and small light bulbs in a plastic bag to keep them contained for collection.
Medical Sharps
Medical sharps must be placed in a DOT-approved medical sharps container with a secure lid.
Medical sharps that are not properly contained will not be collected.

Set Out Your Items Before 7:00 AM
Place your items at the front door before 7:00 AM on your scheduled pickup date.

AFTER YOUR PICKUP
Cardboard Boxes After Collection
Drivers may remove accepted items from cardboard boxes and leave the boxes behind after collection.
